Throughout the process of writing and revising my research paper i have learned alot. First of all my research habits are much different instead of just looking for some random google search result source i can find legit scholarly articles and sources, and i know how to use them. Also with my writing i am much more constructed and i know how to unpack my quotes and add detail.

As i approach the end of the process of my research paper, i feel that i have learned alot about the writing process. My research has improved alot, now i dont just look for a quick google search i take the time to find a decent source i know is reliable. Also my writing has been improving i can now unpack quotes and pay much more attention to detail.

This week i really looked over my research and realized that i researched off of my question which you shouldnt do. I then went and really researched for content and it helped alot. I found many external sources that helped a lot. I revised my assignment 16 and am getting to be very happy with it. It has alot more body and i have explained my quotes alot more.

In our group discussions we talked alot about how we could stretch our topics and get alot of different view points. One of the major things i took from the discussion was the idea for my research question to expand more on is the destruction of buildings and how it affects us not jsut how existing buildings affect but all past and future.

After writing my first draft for the research paper, i am much more relaxed. I realized that it isnt that hard to do. Also i found out that i have a lot more information than i thought. I just sat down and broke out my sources and wrote and didn’t stop till i was finished. I have a lot of fluff but i think its a solid first draft.

ideas: keep with arch/nature/affect.

with assignment 10 i really started to single out what i want my research topic to be and found it to be much more interesting than i thought. i came up with many good ideas that could become many pages in my paper. i am very confident in my ideas for my research paper

i forgot about last weeks post.

This week i wrote abou my idaes for assignement 9. I have really narrowed down alot of my ideas and really got time to think of a good topic. Alot of things i want to do would be really hard to find any research material on. So i ruled those out. i want to find something interesting to me but not impossible to write about. What good is an intersting topic with no information? no good.

i picked: music affecting moods, folklore, and cultures views on different things.

This week i really had some trouble reading the first journal from theory culture and society. It was long and close reading made me take longer because i focused on so many little things. it was hard for me to get both the big picture and look at alot of really small things too. The next articles we read were much mroe interesting i actually got to pick what i wanted to read not just assigned pieces.

I found the close reading exercise we did in class where we put pride on the board was extremely helpful to see what close reading really is. I never before have taken notes and researched so closely before. Reading what close reading steered me in the right direction but actually being shown what it is helped alot its such a specific process i just thought of close reading as paying attention but not analyzing every word and the position of it.

one thing that just came in my head but might be hard to do research for is herb folklore like burning chamomile to prevent nightmares and or stone folklore like how different stones can give powers … example amethyst

I discovered something big today! Previously i thought close reading was getting the big picture of the writing. While reading Gallops piece i just realized close reading is reading literally closely and paying attention to the details to get what the writer is really saying and not being blindsided by projections of my own thoughts. i really get why we are told to make lists of new word and what not, it is to make us more aware of the actual writing! we arent meant to get our own ideas of what people are saying we are meant to read and get what they are saying.

new research ideas:

i really find shipwrecks interesting i dont know how you would go about doing a research paper about that but it would be cool.

also i think the affects music has on people would be awseome to research this is my favorite so far, so note to self this is cool.
